Today's moment of calm could be mistaken for Boris Karloff.
Boris Karloff would of course not play Dr. Frankenstein's monster until decades later. It is, however, very apt that Dr. Holmes would resemble a monster in human form - yet he is not human. He is nothing but a straight line for his temple and cheekbone. He is a supernatural being and Valdemar has given him eyes that equal the intensity of his torch. The latter and his gun are of the same design. Every aspect of him is lethal.
Valdemar was not an admirer of superhuman powers and this was a chance to play with the too much and the magnitude of his adventures. Although this the tiniest, most innocent of beings has found itself in a pool of blood.
