The Daily Valdemar No. 9: March 21

How do we catch the essence of light to put in on paper? Creating life is the fundamental conundrum of art. Valdemar Andersen experimented using as few elements as possible for the greatest possible impact. For a time he would juxtapose a silhouette against the white paper - the young woman have all the detailing at the edges of a paper cutting such as her floating hair and stretched out fingers - and upon that stark effect he would use dabs of green and yellow that would shine with the strength of neon.
The new year is doubly energized by way of the sun rising above the horizon with its promise of joy and plentiful, personified by the young woman leaping our way.
