Above is the portrait of 2020 of which we still have 1/4 left to endure. Every regime and autocrat on the globe has taken the opportunity to turn that extra affliction of mankind into a gain of their own. News? Truth seekers? Access to information and the spreading of it? All of it forbidden and those striving to work through the snares laid out are silenced - in courts, in jails or have paid with their lives.

The press tag, the right to be present, is willfully ignored as Angel Boligán is showing us. Indeed the calmness of the scene it the most terrifying of all. The hands in power are in no hurry, holding the ties as if they are reins. The task is complete.

"History teems with instances of truth put down with persecution" wrote John Stuart Mill, highlighting that is it but a "pleasant falsehood" that truth always perseveres. Yet, as he continued, while truth has no power in itself, people may carry it forth and give it life however the setbacks.

The head and the hands are on an axis above identical to one another. The one is as strong as the other. However only one is of inner strength as revealed by the eyes.

We have another 1/4 of 2020 to face of which the cartoon above was drawn in support of his colleague Emad Hajjaj, who was jailed, then out on bail and still facing imprisonment if convicted in court.
